BARGE CANAL

Description:

Oneida Lake Via the Barge Canal System, can be reached by boat from Buffalo, New York City, Rome, Utica, Syracuse, Canada and the St. Lawrence Seaway. The Barge Canal is very close to the campground by boat or car. You will find steel deck bridges going over the canal in numerous spots, before the bridges you will find parking; from here you can walk the unmarked trails or go fishing.  You can even walk to New London and lock 22. 4 wheeler trails are present but I'm not sure if they are allowed, so if youre asked to not ride, please do so.

Fish Creek Flows into the Barge Canal, so from Mayfair Campground you can drive your boat to the canal or Sylvan Beach. By boat you can visit numerous restaurants and attractions around the lake.
